Mishmi Hills

About Mishmi Hills

The Mishmi Hills rise steeply from the Brahmaputra plains into the Eastern Himalaya, forming one of India's most important — and least visited — birding frontiers. The range is the stronghold of the Mishmi Wren-babbler and holds populations of Sclater's Monal, Blyth's Tragopan and numerous Himalayan specialities found almost nowhere else in India. Home to the Idu Mishmi community, the hills remain remote and largely untouched. Wild Walk organises small, permit-arranged expeditions into this frontier region for serious birders.
